Trailer mounted generator

Features:

• • This generator set comes with either a single-phase ST-type or 3-phase STC-type alternator capable of outputting up to 15kVA (12kW).
  • Powered by an appropriately sized horizontal single-cylinder, four-stroke, diesel engine.
  • A triple belt pulley arrangement connects the engine to the alternator.
  • Electrical output is via two round-pin plugs (wired in parallel). These will be either 16A or 32A as appropriate for the alternator max output.
  • Alternator-mounted meter shows AC Volts, AC frequency (Hz) and total cumulative runtime in hours. Set the throttle to give 50 Hz at ~1500 rpm.
  • Alternator-mounted MCB (miniature circuit breaker) rated as appropriate for output.
  • Water-coolant hopper and diesel fuel tank are mounted on top of the engine.
  • Two fuel filters – washable plastic mesh insert in tank mouth and pleated inline filter with washable insert.
  • Air filter is washable oil-bath type.
  • Float indicator shows coolant level.
  • Engine started by 12V starter motor or crank handle (supplied).
  • Mounted on a steel trailer, with manual leveling arrangement. Simple 60mm hole in steel drawbar gives a loose fit over a standard 50mm towball.
  • Trailer wheels are 12-inch steel rims with 4-inch pneumatic tyres.
  • Total weight (without fuel or coolant) is approximately 350 kg for the 12kW genset with ZS1115 engine. Smaller ones are a little lighter.
  • Trailer nose weight ~55 kg for 12kW version with ZS1115 engine. Smaller ones are a little lighter.
  • Basic toolkit supplied – including starting handle, spanners, spare head gasket.
  • V-belts are standard items. Replacements (if required) are available at local auto-factors.

Cautions:

• • Must be operated in an open environment because of exhaust fumes and noise.
  • Children and animals must be kept away during operation because of danger posed by moving machinery and heat.
  • Take care not to catch body parts or clothing in moving machinery (belts, pulleys, flywheel).
  • 240V mains can be lethal. Take extra care if water (rain) has made electrical items damp.
  • Trailer not certified or suitable for use on public roads, but can be used with appropriate care for moving around a site.
  • Requires an additional 12v car battery for electric start option. This will need to be customer-supplied and require charging to ensure it is ready for use.
  • Water coolant must be drained fully when not running and freezing conditions are possible, to avoid cracking the engine castings. Outlet provided on underside of engine.
  • Coolant water must be de-ionised / soft. Rainwater is perfect. Most of NZ tapwater is fine. Only some small areas in Auckland and Central Otago have moderately hard water. Bore water can be harder (contain more dissolved minerals). Hard water will deposit scale in the cooling channels over time.
